Koenigsegg Jesko - The Ultimate Road-Legal Hypercar

Time travels faster than speed it seems as it was right back in the 80's when people gasped at the Ferrari F40 and it breaching the 200mph barrier. Today, we have the Koenigsegg Jesko which can run up-to a claimed top speed of 310mph. Of course, you would most likely need a private racetrack to try that but with a price-tag of $3 million-plus for each Jesko, we reckon owners might probably own one in the first place!
The Jesko exists in its own world dominated with utterly ludicrous speed and performance. However, Koenigsegg has made its mark doing just that for the past few years. Named after Jesko von Koenigsegg, the father of company Founder and CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg, the new Jesko is an evolution of the Koenigsegg DNA but also a radical change from the cars it has been doing.
Adorned with lightweight materials and witchcraft to enable it to travel at such speeds requires technology and skill which this Swedish hypercar has demonstrated with a lot of in-house tech. The Jesko follows that of the Regera and has a carbon fibre chassis but with Koenigsegg widening its horizon and eyeing new markets, the Jesko is more spacious. It also has F1 like technology including suspension plus adjustable damping.
Of course, with any hypercar, aerodynamics is very important and the Jesko provides over 1000kg of downforce. Other important aspects include an adaptive, active rear steering system, optional carbon fibre wheels and special Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
The engine, in true Koenigsegg fashion is a V8 but has been completely overhauled with bigger turbos and more power. As a result, the new Koenigsegg V8 makes 1280hp on regular gasoline and an astonishing 1600hp on E85 fuel. Maximum torque increases to 1500 Nm at 5100rpm. Even the gearbox has been developed in-house with a new 9-speed multi-clutch unit that does away with traditional synch rings and makes changes between any gear possible at near light speed. The new Koenigsegg Light Speed Transmission weighs just 90kgs yet is responsive along with providing the shifts needed to keep up with that rocket of an engine.
Arguably, just as exciting is the design with the combination of carbon fibre and that distinctive “Tang Orange Pearl” paint which incidentally was also seen on the first Koenigsegg- the CCR. You really cannot miss this jet-fighter for the road with that massive front splitter, slashes, wing or the myriad of lines adorning the car all over. It reeks of the other worldly vibe that a Koenigsegg so successfully exudes.
A big change from their earlier cars is the amount of craftsmanship and luxury that is seen on the Jesko. There is a new racing inspired digital instrument cluster where the graphic turns just as you do on the wheel, as well as an updated SmartCenter infotainment touch screen system. While the car shown here is a pre-series production model, the production for the 125 Jesko and Jesko Absolut customer cars have started along with first of the deliveries slated for spring 2022.
The new Jesko goes beyond the traditional claims of performance and is easily the most rounded model yet from the mad world of Koenigsegg. It is also most likely to claim the fastest car in the world tag with that kind of top speed.
