The Belnord Jewel Box, New York City

Oliver Cloutier Interiors is proud to present their third project at The Belnord in New York City.

The client was referred to the Florida-based firm by the builder. Upon discovering that her neighbors had also hired the firm, she asked to meet them. With the highest praise, Oliver Cloutier Interiors was selected with one special request: the client asked for the team to deliver her a "jewel box."

Making the project more special is the building’s provenance. The Belnord, an elegant pre-war gem, is one of the most historically respected buildings in the city.

Taking up an entire block, the building has a central private courtyard. Many may find the scene familiar, as it is the setting of the critically acclaimed series “Only Murders in the Building.”

The interior of the residence is laid out in a traditional manner, keeping the integrity of the architecture. An entry hall leads to a vestibule. From there, a long corridor guides you through various cased openings that reveal the living spaces.

French white oak flooring inlaid with chevron patterns adds warmth and sophistication. Plaster moldings, solid paneled doors, and high ceilings accentuate the hand-selected furnishings and decorative lighting.

Comfort was the objective for each room. Being avid dog lovers, the firm's focus was on high-performance materials that are both elegant and soft.

Hand-selected finishes of parchment, aged bronze, and lacquer punctuate the spaces, adding intrigue and depth to the design.

By the time of completion, the client had become part of the Oliver Cloutier family. After a two-day white glove installation that included artwork, accessories, and custom bedding, the client visited for the first time and had only one thing to say: she had been given her Jewel Box.
